5 Ways To Make Sustainability A Natural Part Of Your Lifestyle

Sustainability is all that anybody seems to be talking about. The idea in theory is fairly simple but really difficult to execute only because we have been conditioned to accept unsustainable means.
How can we really translate this buzzword to daily life? Here are some very easy steps to decoding this.

1. An ethical wardrobe
Say no to fast fashion. Brands which change their collections every couple of months are raiding our landfills and are also under the radar for poor working conditions. Choose local, small businesses. Choose to buy pre-loved clothes to extend its life.

2. Carry your trusty steel dabba with you
Zero-waste living consists of not wasting a morsel of food you did not consume at your neighbourhood café. Carry your dabba, fill it with the food that remains, take it home and eat it the next day, and be very proud of your decision.

3. Clean your inbox
Your digital footprint matters just as much. Spam, unread emails, and old useless messages may not take up any physical space, but they do require physical resources, especially water. Data centres use billions of litres of water to cool down computers. 60 per cent of emails are never opened and each email stored emits a staggering 10g of CO2 into the atmosphere.

4. Be mindful about celebrations
Glitter, balloons, party streamers are all made of micro plastics which cannot be segregated from other wastes and hence cannot be recycled. We are actually consuming the remnants in the water we drink, in the meat (high unsustainable by the way) we eat, etc.

5. Sustainable living, literally
Choose to live in a physical space that is made from sustainably sourced products. Even services like CO2 monitoring sensors which help in maintaining the indoor air quality, zero-discharge water facility, recyclable construction management are a few things to watch out for.
